Making Pop-Up Cards for Beginners

After several months of work, I am thrilled to announce the launch of my Domestika course! In this online course, you will learn the secrets of pop-up techniques to enhance your future design and illustration projects, bringing them to a new dimension. You will create three three-dimensional cards with different mechanisms that are sure to bring a smile to your face.
Creating pop-up cards might seem a bit daunting initially, but I'll guide you through the process of achieving stunning results using simple mechanisms. I've structured the course into four easily digestible units, allowing you to grasp everything step by step!

Unit 1.
In this unit, I will share with you how a simple burger turned my past passion into my livelihood, and I'll introduce you to the most significant influences on my journey in paper engineering.

Unit 2.
In unit 2, you will learn about the tools and materials used to create pop-ups. Later, I'll teach you some basic mechanisms that will demonstrate how to build structures that are slightly more complex but just as easy to make. You'll come to realize that impressive pop-ups doesn't mean complex mechanisms; paper engineering is more approachable than it might initially appear. Furthermore, I will provide examples of these mechanisms found in existing books and cards.

Unit 3.
In this unit we will explore concept maps and how to use them in our final project. We will develop the initial mock-ups and then make clean and full-scale versions. This preparation will set the stage for the final illustrations that we'll be drawing in the upcoming unit.

Unit 4.
In this final unit, we'll wrap up our project. I'll provide a quick overview of some handy techniques for crafting your illustration on Procreate. Following that, I'll delve into the differences between two printing methods. To conclude, we'll go through the step-by-step assembly process for our cards.

My goal in creating this course was to make it accessible for those who have never ventured into the world of pop-up cards, while still offering something engaging for those with some prior experience in paper engineering.
